What brings you peace?
This is an earlier blog prompt post that I answered, thinking about what brings me joy and happiness.
I said: “…people I can relax and laugh with; being in sunlight; watching animals play; listening to and making music; watching films; reading and being creative.”
I think peace is probably pretty similar. You would feel at peace if you are happy, so doing these things gives me peace.
Recently, I went to an art exhibition and one of the pieces was a giant piece of paper, about 3 metres by 3 metres with hundreds of different stickers stuck down onto it, completely covering the whole space. The artist said that they started it during lockdown and continued for two years until it was completed. They said that they only continued because it brought them a sense of calm and peace while they were doing it, monotously continuing to cover a small piece of the paper in stickers, waiting patiently for the overall affect to be ready.
The artist was 8 years old…
It only took two years, because her mum kept telling her to roll the paper up and put it away. But she persevered!
Amazing! I think we all need to remember this and find our own stickers in life.
What do you do to find peace?
