If you were going to open up a shop, what would you sell?
It’s interesting reading other people’s responses, most seem to be either coffee shops or bookshops or a normal or unnormal combination of both. Perhaps, because as customers, we like the peace of these places to ruminate and cogitate and relax and escape and to plan and all those things that modern life has squeezed out of itself. I seriously doubt opening and running one of those places would be as peaceful as sitting in one!
Therefore, I think I would go for one of those weird rambling shops that end up in independent-shop- lane and sells things that no-one ever needs, but still seems to survive for eons. I’d like a shop where the passages are so narrow and cluttered that you can hardly squeeze past, and as soon as you have turned one corner, you can’t find your way back. Hopefully, like in true Terry Pratchett style, there is a huge orangutan perched God-like on the top of one of the shelves in a distant corner, and that if you find an exit, it’s actually an escape into another dimension or time period.
