What’s it all about? Omar is a typical school boy who now has to move house and start at a new school. Luckily, he makes a friend quickly – Charlie. Unluckily, they both have a common enemy at school – the class bully, Daniel. Also, Omar’s neighbour Mrs Roberts isn’t very welcoming. However, there are always the family’s Science Sundays to look forward to and special Muslim festivals, such as Eid.

Why should I read it? A fun read for ages 7+, Omar deals with normal everyday life in a great way, so a great role model. You learn lots about science, bullies, being a Muslim and how to deal with your family! There’s a whole series of them to enjoy as well and this one is the first. Some great cartoon style illustrations help make this book easily accessible.
