What’s it all about? This is the third book in the eggciting series by M.G. Leonard after Twitch and Spark (I wonder how many egg puns I can fit in?!). They all follow a group of young bird watching detectives who live in the same area and enjoy protecting the local wildlife. In this story, Twitch realises that its up to him to catch the egg thieves, but who could they be? With the fishing competition in full spring there are many strange faces about, but who’s not telling the truth and will the clues lead them in the right direction? Jack, his best friend, suspects one person, Twitch the itch in their mind games, and getting him arrested for the worst possible crime. Can the friends pull together and use their friendship to pull through?
Why should I read it? With strong overarching themes of sticking by your friends in the toughest of circumstances; relying on your instincts; and a determination to succeed, this is a brilliant story. With believable conversation, between the characters and beautifully described countryside, the world of Twitch and the other comes alive. Perfect for 9 years and above. The story twists and turns as at first we focus on one suspect and then the other – I bet you’ll never guess who did it? No birds were harmed in the writing of this review!
