First line: Lyle Funderburk sipped a glass of ice-cold Mac-Tonic tm, on the way back from a conference in Japan.

Genre: Adventure, Eco warrior, Friendship

Age: 9+

What’s it all about? The world is dominated by one massive corporation: Mac-Tonic tm (I’m sure you can spot the link to the real life company or companies, without me mentioning any names and getting sued!). Unfortunately, they have a massive problem, their secret formula has been lost after a suspicion accident strikes down two of their leading company figures. However, unbeknownst to them, a nobody in deadville, USA, has found it! Will this person, Queenie de la Cruz, make the ‘right choice’ and hand it over, or will she make the ‘mad’ choice and try and save the planet?

Why should I read it? For some reason I wasn’t too into the concept when I first heard it, but I soon really enjoyed the story. Queenie is such a likeable character – unsure, strong, noble, that you can’t help enjoying her journey. The ‘baddies’ in the story are quite Roald Dahl esq in many ways – larger than life, brutal but funny. There are twists and turns galore right until the dramatic end of the story, which really does go with a POP!
