One boys’ dangerous mission to rescue, re-invite and reinvigorate interest in his own birthday!
The first line:
It all started when a pig fell off the roof.
My review:
What an epic, belly laughing, side-splittingly funny book this is! The warmth and humour roll off each page as you zoom through it, hoping and hoping that it’s not going to end, and that a giant pig isn’t going to fall out of the page and squash you flat! Poor Tom, he is just trying to make his way through life, enjoying his birthday, but unbelievable things keep happening to him: a pig squashes his Nana’s dog, his birthday is cancelled, his sister is cursed by the tooth fairy, his mum is always busy working and his dad is stuck in the dining room/study writing a book. He needs a big dollop of resistingance to help him through and his friends. A super book to engage Year 3 and 4 children, it has nice, short chapters, clear characters and a simple but effective plot- a great one to read out loud to your class!
